Since I don't have any pressing issues I figure that this time I should be able to ask for directions, instead of running around without any sort of map. I suppose I can just ask a random passerby, one of them will have this city memorized. I could just go back into the inn and ask Targus, but I feel like stretching my legs for a bit. Should help reacquaint myself with my body, as growing more than a foot would be enough to throw off your senses. I can't help but still feel a little unsteady, like I'm in the middle of a strong quake.
It will probably take a while before I am properly able to use martial arts. I'll have to pass the exams using just Magic, which won't be a problem for me. Hopefully it won't have much to do with physical tests, but if it does I'll persevere. The biggest concern is whether or not they'll have a physical, I'm not very comfortable with my body yet. I suppose I'll be able to deal with it, I'm not that bad looking.
Looking around, I see a few people walking down the streets, most of them Human. Scattered around in various corners and alleys, deals are being struck, and drugs are traded. Just like my old world, bad people are truly a constant. I should just ignore it, this is something that cannot be changed. Like most people, I wish I could do something, but I know there are those who will do anything for a high. Black Alchemists have a high paying career making mind-altering potions and lethal poisons. Of course, their bosses rake in even more money by distributing them to those who willing to buy.
Shaking my dark thoughts away, I walk up to one of the few pedestrians. The man looks up at my face, with some slight shock in his eyes. Does everyone have to look so surprised whenever they see me? Well, the guards did say that Dragons are a rarity, so most people would be bewildered upon meeting one. I wait for him to calm down a bit, and after a moment I see his shoulders relax.
"Yeah, I was wondering if I could get directions to the Adventurer's Coalition?"
"Oh, yes of course you can. Head to the market from the main street and once you get there, turn right and keep walking. After some distance, you'll see a large building, that's the Adventurer's Membership. But if I may ask, why do you want to go there?"
"Well, I've wanted to become an Adventurer since I was a kid, back when I still lived in Arves. I plan on journeying around the continent, and this will allow me to gain some income along the way."
"You mean to say you're from the High Elf Capital?"
"I'm Half Dragon, my mother was a High Elf."
"Incredible. I always thought they preached purity for their Race."
"Well, no one's going to argue with an Archaic Dragon, so most of the High Elves had to accept them." After saying that, his eyes grow wide again. Sighing, I decide to just head towards the Coalition and away from this conversation. I really didn't want to deal with his questions for much longer, nothing against him, I just have better things to do. Before I left, I should have asked where I can sell all my prey, but I think I can do so at the Quest-house.
It will take me a couple minutes if I walk, but I feel like taking in the scenery. I suppose I can stop by the docks to try my hand at fishing, though I'll be using Magic instead of rods. No, that will have to wait until I'm finished with my application process. I'd rather get that done first, then have some fun. I still feel excited, wanting to see what I can catch. I think I might have fished as a hobby in my past life, I guess I really enjoyed it.
After walking for a bit, I feel Ruun wriggle around in my soul, she must want to stretch her legs. I summon her and she immediately jumps into my arms, to my dismay. I thought she wanted to walk with me, but apparently she just wanted to get out. I don't really mind, I just wasn't expecting it. Her fur is incredibly soft and silky, courtesy of my daily Aura-infusions improving her health. It almost appears to glow in the light, giving her a saintly appearance. Her golden eyes add to her charm, drawing you into them. Suffice to say, she is currently the most beautiful animal in Windberg. If Cana were here, she'd have some competition, but of the two I still think Ruun wins.
After thinking that, Cana begins to aggressively shout mentally, obviously angered by my comment. I'm forced to let her out as well, and she too demands to be carried
. So, now I'm walking down the street, holding two adorable pups, and now everyone's attention has turned towards me. A couple of children saw the pair, and I could see the desire growing in their eyes. Young women also swooned, but for a completely different reason. A combination of long, glossy, emerald hair, enchanting crimson eyes, and a godly physique would make any girl go mad. I'm uncomfortable with the hungry stares and lustful gazes I'm receiving, I'd prefer it if they didn't make it so obvious. I feel as though I got the same kind of looks in my last life too.
My distress keeps growing until I can't take it anymore, and decide to just fly to the Membership. Channeling Aura into my back, a pair of golden wings spring forth, and with a light push I'm rocketed up in the air. I decide against flying too high, for fear of dropping either Ruun or Cana, but I'll reach the Adventurer's Coalition in mere seconds with flight. The view of the city from above was stunning, a deep blue vastness stretching into eternity, and a bustling port elegantly plotted with symmetry in mind, gleaming white streets littered with humble stalls and happy people.
After mentally saving the sight, I begin to descend back towards the city, creating a shell of water to act as a cushion with Magic. I aim towards the large building I assume to be the Membership and *SPLASH* I land on my feet, completely unharmed with the two in my arms sending me mental messages, saying to do it again. Nearby, a few pedestrians are soaked, glaring at me but soon after start walking away, most likely due to realizing I'm a Dragon.
I quickly enter the building to avoid more trouble, while Ruun and Cana get disappointed at me. Inside, an immaculate lobby and tidy reception desks are crowded by shouting Adventurers and the receptionists struggle to deal with each complaint. There is one free clerk, though her desk is cluttered, and beneath it I can see scratches and marks, obviously degrading comments about her. The shouting grows in volume until my ears can't take it, and I inadvertently release all my Aura, causing the various people to collapse or faint. Though I didn't mean to, I am relieved that silence returned to the room.
Walking up to the frightened receptionist, I ask about joining as her face regains some color. She simply hands me a sheet of paper, telling me to fill it in and my registration is complete. Looking over it, it's all about personal history, you know, Age, height, weight, Name, eye color, hair color, things you'd find on your driver's license. Obviously, I'd have to guess my weight, but everything else is easy. I just wrote down my weight as 350 pounds, as an estimate. I handed the sheet back, and she heads to a different room, and after a few minutes comes back with a card. Stunned, I merely take it and take a seat on a chair in the lobby. I thought there was some exam I was supposed to take, but turns out they're just handing out cards to whoever walks in.
