Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: Lady Eva

World- Klosos

Kuria Empire

Capital - High Altitude Coffee

People ran as shards from the window exploded inside the coffee shop, a few brave souls raised their heads, surprised that they were not injured at all.

A blue ripple spread along the storefront, one lady glanced at a young man holding his wooden staff in front of himself. A clear circle full of clear white runes illuminated his face.

'He protected us! He must be a noble, but why would he care about us?'

She eyed the young man, he had silver-blonde hair, and ice-blue eyes that seemed to freeze her heart when he glanced at her.

'I never seen hair like that! And those eyes, if only I was a noble.'

She sighed.

Ace had reacted instantly and cast a

'1st Circle: Shield'

just spread around the shop instead of him.

'Luckily, no one got injured inside.'

Outside, the battle was raging, both bodyguards were firing from their wands spell after spell. They were being pushed back, opposing them were three wizards wearing black cloaks, while ten more spellcasters were using their books to cast incantations at them.

Something on his peripherals caught his eye and Ace turned to stare, there, on his right, was a woman she was holding a little girl, no more than 10 years old, a gaping hole where her stomach should be.

Her eyes stared towards Ace, seeing right through him, and nothing at the same time. He could hear now the cries of a mother , shaking her daughter , holding on to her with such vigor, as if willing her to back life.

On his left, two of the spellcasters were covering two other spellcasters as they made their way to the coffee shop. Upon a second glance outside, there were more bodies littered around the street and sidewalk.

Feeling a spell being cast, he glanced behind to see the rich blonde girl casting a

'2nd Circle: Water Mist.'

with her left arm in front of her. Two blue circles full of runes appeared in front of her

Ace turned once more to the woman with the little girl, they were both laying in a pool of blood, the mother still held her daughter even after dying herself.

He felt a boiling anger rising from his core, as if on reflex, his arms lifted in front of him, his left hand taking control over the

'1st Circle: Shield'

as he used the staff on his right hand and the ground underneath his feet to conjure as many Earthen spears as he could cast.

"3rd Circle: Earth Spear"

Came the words of power out of his mouth, almost as if on a trance. To conserve energy, he had connected to the ground beneath his feet, feeling for the materials needed gathering rocks, dirt, and pavement from the street to conjure fifteen spears.

Three brown circles appeared in front of his staff, each one bigger than the other.

One of her bodyguards went down just as he launched his fifteen spears, three for the Wizard that had fired the spell that hit the little girl, and 1 for each of the other people wearing black cloaks.

Each one hit their targets, one of the Wizards that only got one spear thrown at him managed to dodge out of the way, only to be met by a Magic Bolt from the bodyguard that was left.

Ace in his fury had made each spear spin, the damaged caused was beyond description as most tore through their intestines and ground them like meat. Some were still alive. The one he had sent three spears was missing a leg, and his head had being pulverized.

Steeling his emotions, Ace created small needles made of mana, sending them to end the lives of all but the least hurt of them, the last wizard, he was only missing a leg.

The bodyguard outside gave him a once over, but this time , his eyes were full of respect, Ace nodded at him, while the bodyguard bowed back.

"My Lady Eva, are you okay?". The bodyguard asked concerned directing his gaze behind Ace.

Her emerald eyes stared back coolly. "Yes." She placed her hand down, and the mist covering a portion of the store dispersed.

"Is your partner alive?" Ace asked.

Turning to face him with a little surprise in his face, before becoming stoic once more. "He is dead Sir."

"I see, I am sorry."

This time Eva turned to face him with what seemed like puzzlement.

He glanced back at her.

"He is just a contractor, made to serve my family." She responded.

Ace, not understanding the ways of this world, chose to keep his opinions to himself. Shrugging, he turned to see if anyone inside the shop needed help.

Not finding anyone, he headed outside, making sure to use his staff to cast

'1st Circle: Bind'

on the Wizard he had spared. A lady was holding her hand, while an old man next to her was missing an arm, he must have been in shock, as he stared into space.

Ace noted that both the bodyguard and Eva followed behind him. Ignoring them, he went to the old man first.

"Hey, Old Man, yes you, what's your name?"

"Ah, my arm, it's gone." The old man stared at his stump incredulously.

"Look at me." He commanded with a bit of mana.

The old man turned to him.

He heard a gasp behind him. "What's your name?" Ace asked once more.

"Roger Sir."

"Roger, everything will be okay." He said as he cast a

'4th Circle: Earth Heal'

with all his concentration. He had reached 4th Circle in Earth not that long ago.

While Earth was not as good as Light when it came to healing, he had no proficiency in Light.

This time, he did notice both the lady on the floor and Roger stare back at him in awe.

"My lord, how can you waste your magic on someone lowly like me!"

"Shut up Roger." Ace said as he focused the spell on just the stump. It was regrowing at a visible speed.

Ace had been blessed since young with large reserves of mana. But using a spell that is meant to be 1st circle, expanding it to a 4th tier circle, and using it to regrow an arm, was more tiring then he expected.

Sweat was accumulating on his forehead, and beads fell down his face. If he did not have the staff his Uncle gave him, he might not have been able to do this whatsoever.

The mana that was keeping the spell making his backpack lighter was cut off by him, as he had to focus it on what he was doing.

His physical body was good due to his cultivation, but still, he felt the 500 pounds on his back.

Seeing the fingers forming, he allowed the mana to be gathered from Roger's own body.

He took a few deep breaths before turning to the lady. "Let me see your hand."

She didn't even hesitate as she moved it towards him, it was just cut very badly, but nothing was missing.

"Y-yes my Lord." She said.

Ace was too tired to correct her. Two brown circles full of runes appeared as he cast a

'2nd circle: Earth Heal'

. This time letting her own mana do the work.

He stood up as a part of him concentrated on the

'Earth Heal'

. He felt a tug in his mind at the spell

'Bind'

he had cast on the survivor.

The culprit was trying to break free, but Ace increased the mana being directed at him.

He noticed there were what look like soldiers appearing from the nearest teleport arrays.

'Of course, now that the battle is over, they show up.'
