Haaa…
she sighed.
“How long are you going to stay silent?”

“You have been listening to their prayers.
Can’t you forgive them yet?”

Faced with her silence, she turned to leave, sighing helplessly, —
“Where is he… she?”
She paused.
“Who?”
“…The one who stood against me.”
Surprise flickered across her face, quickly smothered. Then, unable to help herself, she laughed—softly at first, then with amusement.
“Why are you laughing?” the other demanded, glaring.
“No—nothing,” she said, still giggling. “I just thought you had finally become curious.”
“Hmph.” She snorted. “Where is she?”
Smiling gently, she replied, “A human’s life is far too short. Time slips away in the blink of an eye.”
“An entire lifetime—nothing more than a fleeting dream.”
“He… she has already passed on.”
…
For a while, neither of them spoke. An unspoken emptiness settled between them.
“So…” she finally asked, “who was she?”
“Hm.” She tapped her chin, pretending to think, which only made the other frown.
“It’s an interesting story. One that takes time to tell.”
“And you know I’m not very good with words.” She smiled sheepishly.

The glare sharpened, tinged with annoyance.
She chuckled. “Instead, look over there.”
She pointed into the distance.
“In that temple, someone has finally compiled her story for the first time.”
“And she’s about to read it to those cute little bo—
cough
—girls.”
“Why don’t we listen? It should be a pleasant way to pass the time.”
She happily sat beside her, wrapping her in a warm embrace.
Despite the irritation on her face, she didn’t pull away.
Settling in, they began to listen—
