Chapt'r 2
Lat'r, yond night–the festivities w're all tempus high. Th’y gathered 'round. The soundeth of music and chants clung to the air.
The issue of the tribe stood at the v'ry middle of the crowd as yond gent then began to discourse. The beings halt'd and observed. From within the crowd stood Clovis Theuderbert. Scrutinizing their fath'r with a soft smile.
The brown haired sir didst behold on to the didst satisfyeth edges of his beings. “Today we has't gathered aft'r the year longeth harsh wint'r yond madeth our landeth suff'r and in which our livelihood wast threatened.”
“We has't nay requirement to w'rry as t hath passed, this night is about rejoicing and giving.”
“Funds shalt beest madeth f'r schools which w're destroyed and temples.” The beings cheered.
On the ladies' side of the vicinity, those gents satteth in convivial company, engag'd in colloquy. The atmosph're wast alive with the sweet strains of music and uninhibited jubilation.
Dame Herlinda wast in attendance with h'r daught'r, mingling cordially with the oth'r matrons. As those gents discoursed amongst themselves, Adalia hath found h'rself the subject of good-natured jesting and queries regarding matrimony.
H'r moth'r gazed at h'r with a tenderly amus'd smile. Howev'r, the young mistress responded with a polite yet palpable hint of annoyance.
The nonce wast anon elevated into a thoroughly joyous spectacle, as the young gentlemen of the tribe took rounds showcasing their prowess in demonstrations of chivalry f'r the advantage of their assembly.
In the f'refront, those gents all gathered to witness a most intriguing contest, pitting the son of a gov'rn'r 'gainst a commoner. The young gallants clashed with consid'rable vigour, yet the lesser-standing contender emerged victorious. As a token of their respect, the two opponents did extend a hearty handshake.
In this egalitarian gath'ring, thence wast nay disc'rnible patriarchal influenceth; on the contrary, parity reigned supreme.
Anon on the f're, one espied Clovis Theudebert and Dagobert. Adalia smiled and bestowed a most telling glance upon h'r moth'r. The lady maintained a faint, winsome smile.
The two gentlemen grasped their respective swords. Clovis, t seemed, hadst a demise gripeth on the blade, and upon espying Dagobert, that gent beheld his countenance aglow with the fi'ry illumination.
That gent observed, with some surprise, the mann'r in which that gent did hold the razor-sharp rapier, his hands clenched 'round t in a stability that gent hadst nev'r ere witnessed during their divergences.
That gent began to ponder wheth'r this young scamp, in the throes of frenzy, wast, in pointeth of fact, the amorous cons'rt of Adalia. Upon the utterance of the words "wend!" those gents, too, launched themselves at one anoth'r with alacrity.
The cadence of conflicting steel reverberated through the air as the combatants' swords collided with a resounding crash. Both their respirations w're labored, their chests throwing with exertion. Clovis's gazeth gradually shifted towards a diamond-like configuration nestled within a pair of hexagonal containers.
With a base, guttural rasp, those gents both halt'd their swords. Despite the continued fracas, Adalia's constitution wast opening to flag, anxiety gnawing at h'r v'ry essence.
"valorous heavens..." A pained exhalation escaped h'r companion as that gent clutched his armeth, blood anon oozing f'rth from the did wind.
"Ho thence, Clovis!" Adalia checked h'rself, scrutinizing that gent steel himself and initiateth a moulinet, his counterattack swift and precise. Dagobert watched with a chest convulsed in labored inhalations.
The melee continued, the pungent aroma of charred timber and congealed blood hanging heavy in the air, accompanied by the glistening droplets of sweat beading upon both their foreheads.
T wast at yond juncture yond Clovis Theudebert madeth a daring foray, feigning a f'rocious assault in 'rd'r to decoy his adversary to the opposite flank. His canny opponent, alas, wast deceived, and Clovis seized the opp'rtunity to beest effective.
Observedly, his adversary's composure wast undone, and Clovis did manage to edge perilously closeth, his rapier securely pressed 'gainst the tender expanse of his opponent's throat."
The reverberations of ventilated breaths filled the air as those gents gazed at each oth'r. Adalia’s brooch didst parteth dryeth.
“Come on now… t is over.” Dagobert’s chest heaved as that gent then breathed in sloweth mann'r. Clovis then released his jugular from captivity as that gent stumbled backeth.
His eyes w're still burning through that gent. Dagobert hadst not uttered a word. That gent only gazed at that gent then dropped his rapier with a shudder. That gent then turned to ev'ry one’s eyes and walked hence.
Clovis watched yond gent–his hands hath found the endeth of his rapier as that gent then gripped t with both hands. That gent then wenteth backward and struck the landeth with equal ire.
(that gent breathed out heavily*)
The night somehow transpired into something entirely new.
