Chapter 4 - Chapter 3: The wholly different

In the morn, heeding the discomfiting occurrences, Adalia Theudebert satteth idly by the window of the academy, h'r gazeth did fix upon the crops in the distance as the lady exhaled a melancholy sigheth. T wast h'r ardent wisheth to exit the premises, though the lady hath found h'rself cautiously hesitant. Perchance the festivities, as those gents progressed, hadst not proven as distressing as initially anticipated; howev'r, the events of the previous day continued to perturb h'r.

Wherefore, forsooth, hadst Dagobert and h'r owneth broth'r clashed with such unrelenting f'rocity? Coequal the bystanders, who is't hadst witnessed the exchange, seemed taken aback by the acrimony yond hadst erupted between those folk. T wast all rather...unsettling.

Adalia's countenance betrayed a hint of wistfulness as the lady pondered the possibility yond h'r "romantic" inclinations towards Dagobert strength has't been the efficacious catalyst f'r h'r brother's antagonism towards the latt'r. Though, in pointeth of fact, the lady harboured nay such feelings whatsoever.

The lady turned h'r eyes hence from the window, enabling those folk to settleth upon the surrounds, wh're their teachest'r stood resplendent at the front of the cubiculo. H'r classmates, seated in rapt attention, regarded the educat'r with solemn expression. Averse to tracing unnecessary attention, Adalia redirected h'r gazeth once m're to the outside, wh're h'r porthole of vision did expand in subtle, successive increments.

Thence, from v'ry far hence from the entrance of the village, wast a horseman. Going up upon his steed. H'r eyes subtly widened then some m're at which moment the dame realized thence w're m're horsemen. Those gents were… thousands.

From within the inn’r market—a sir yelped, “WALHA SIND GIKUMANE!!!!!!”  “The Romans has't come!” The crowd gasped and began to behold at their backs. Clovis’s eyes wenteth to his fath'r, the issue. His hands w're valorous anon on his rapier as yond gent then slid out.

Though his that from which we speak only uttered a nameth.

“Adalia”...

The peaceful night turned into a blood shedding battlefield as Franks began to square, the Romanians only advanc'd forward.

Adalia!! Clovis’s hands clutched on his rapier. Yond gent turned apace to seeth a soldi'r, yond gent swung at yond gent once.

The classroom wast in utter disarray, I dare sayeth. Adalia h'rself madeth a precipitous exit, besting a hasty retreat beyond the premises, not coequal deigning to glance backeth ov'r h'r shouldst'r. H'r gazeth alighted upon the unholy spectacle unfolding ere h'r, a tableau of burnt-out hovels and the blood-curdling shrieks yond rent the air.

H'r breath wast coming in short, choppy gasps, one strength sayeth. The lady then did cast a backward glance, if only to behold those bounders installing aflame the roofs of the hay stacks. A fleeting glint of reflection danced in h'r eyes, a reflection of the flames yond did illuminate h'r countenance, as the lady stumbled backwards, h'r stepeth uncertain. And then, as fate wouldst has't t, reality descended upon h'r liketh a ton of bricks. The lady spun 'round, not a instant wasted.

Adalia sprinted to h'r home, to h'r matron. Though the doors w're locked. The dame frantically didst behold backeth at the scene outside, at the burning village then began to knap on the harsh wood.

The doth'r but soft opened, thence the dame glanced up to seeth h'r moth'r bearing a dagger. H'r eyes apace widened as the dame took h'r in.

“Adalia…!” The dame clasped h'r tight. The doth'r closed didst did shut.

Clovis’s eyes burned through the burned houses then bethinking about his home, his gazeth hath fallen to the soldi'r at his feet. Yond gent clutched a dagger and wast about to striketh on his foot. Though Clovis stomped his handeth. The sir grunted.

Clovis then glanced up then began to tread.

The issue, theudebert swung his rapier backeth and f'rth, slaying sir aft'r sir. His hands hath grown weary. His deepset brows didst did cast a frown as yond gent then hath hath kept on mobilizing.

“M-Muoter.” Adalia wept. Herlinda though didst holdeth h'r closeth. Inside the dark closed doors, those gents embraced.

“Where is Clovis…?” The dame asked. Adalia didst behold hence. Herlinda’s core thudded, The dame then didst receiveth up, telling h'r to stayeth. H'r son wast overlooking 'r only from h'r eyes. Yond gent may beest fighting outside 'r longeth gone. The dame didst not knoweth. The dame clenched h'r hands, having a holdeth on h'r rapier as the dame then wenteth to the doth'r.

The dame didst behold backeth at Adalia then tugged at the doth'r. Though t stayed. Herlinda’s eyes subtly widened.

“M-Mouter…?” Adalia murmured.

Clovis wenteth inside the inn'r f'rest wh're many charged at yond gent. Yond gent combated backeth and slain those folk. Yond gent then lightly tapped at the endeth of his rapier. Relaxing the blood 'gainst the leaves.

His hunteth'r eyes flickered between the trees then yond gent hath hath heard a grunt. Clovis sprinted in the administration. Only f'r yond gent to findeth his sire on the didst grindeth with two oth'r men bearing yond gent down and anoth'r on top of yond gent. Dagger in hands, eft to striketh on his chest.

Clovis stood backeth behind a bush, yond gent took out his boweth, bearing the backeth of the arrow, yond gent tugged at t once. Though nev'r didst actually alloweth t wend as from behind–storng pairs of arms locked his neck as yond gent wast then toppled on his backeth.

Clovis hath hath felt the sir climb on top of yond gent. Yond gent struggled on the didst grindeth, humour his breath constrict by his holdeth on his neck. His eyes then rolled backeth, hearing the base grunt of his father–he began to thrash 'round.

“FATHER!” yond gent yelled on top of his lungs.

F-Father… his eyes darkened.

M-Mouter…? Adalia didst receiveth on h'r feet, adopting h'r handeth as the dame wenteth to h'r.Herlinda thought tugged at the doth'r. Again and again. T rattled yet nev'r budged.

Herlinda’s eyes widened furth'r, the dame then pounded on t. At which moment yond too failed the dame slammed h'rself 'gainst the doth'r.

 BASTARDS!! Ah Deity! BASTARDS!

Those gents has't locked the doors.

Mouter… Adalia strode to h'r. Herlinda grasped h'r closeth to h'r. The dame then slumped to the flo'r. H'r visage wast teareth streaked.

The soldiers in their steed began to lighteth fireth on the closed doors. Those gents didst holdeth torches then grazed t 'gainst the hay roofs. The soundeth of screams became imminent.

Both Adalia & Herlinda stayed clos'r to each oth'r 'gainst the doth'r. Herlinda pressed a trembling kisseth on top of h'r headeth. The dame then gazed to the window, their only source of lighteth.

From within the dame couldst seeth a soldi'r, yond gent moved clos'r to the house. Adalia began to sob lowly. Though Herlinda clasped h'r yond from which we speak. H'r eyes averted to the window once again. Nay one.

The dame then hath hath felt the flo'r getting warmeth. H'r eyes but soft flickered up. Then h'r core dropped. The roof wast on fireth and t wast circulating apace.

Adalia gazed at h'r moth'r, then followed wh're the dame wast looking–though Herlinda didst holdeth h'r headeth and directed t towards h'r visage.

The dame then began to murmur a soft lullaby in h'r ear as the heateth engulfed the house.

***

The soldier’s gripeth on his neck tightened as his thrashing slowed. Clovis Theudebert's eyes met the dark sky then closed didst did shut.

The fracas persisted, developing m're tumultuous by the minutia. T wast, in pointeth of fact, an unmitigated t'rr'r.

Clovis Theudebert did lie lifeless upon the earth. T wast at this juncture yond a fellow, a nefarious adversary, stole upon that gent. That gent moved with trepidation, inching incrementally clos'r to the young scamp as that gent carefully extracted a blade from the recesses of his waistband.

That gent then grasped the rapier in both hands, his hands visibly trembling with trepidation. That gent gazed upon the ashen countenance of the lad.

Just as that gent raised the rapier and wast about to render the fatal blow--his neck contorted violently at the v'ry instant as an arrow pierced his corpse with unerring precision.

The sir dropped and deceased with a gag from behind. A dram furth'r hence stood Dagobert. Puffing out his chest. His hands w're carrying the boweth as yond gent then tremblingly gazed down at his master’s visage.

Yond gent then ran towards yond gent. Launching his boweth. Yond gent reached yond gent and satteth on the soil, kneeling. The knave then reached f'r his headeth and putteth t on his lap.

“Master… MASTER… yond gent urged. Yet Clovis stayed still. Yond gent then began to pat at his visage frantically. His breath supplying out.

Mast'r?
