After a long while, Tang Weiwei walked out of the back kitchen with her people. Every face was dark as a storm cloud.
"You... deserve to die!"
Tang Weiwei stared at the group of men, her whole body trembling with rage.
Her teammates were no better-jaws clenched, expressions iron.
"It's the apocalypse. We're all gonna die anyway, so why hold back?" The ringleader's voice was manic. "I guarantee half the men in this room wanted to do the same thing. They just didn't have the guts to take that step."
"Sure, we ran into you today-bad luck, we'll own that. But can you even get out? The Cafeteria's almost out of food. Zombies everywhere outside. We all starve together. Waiting for rescue? You really think that's coming? Even if it does, you won't last that long!"
"That's none of your concern." Tang Weiwei's voice was ice. "Mo Yu. Kill him."
The moment the words left her mouth, the handsome man beside her stepped forward. The Fire Axe in his hand swung in a clean arc.
A head sailed through the air.
Screams erupted across the Cafeteria.
"Bin-ge, what was in there?" Chen Hao asked, curiosity overriding caution. "What got her that pissed?"
"A bunch of women." Yang Bin exhaled slowly. "Stripped naked. Tortured beyond recognition."
"!!!"
"Then yeah-those bastards deserved it."
Minutes later, several women from Tang Weiwei's team led out more than a dozen figures. Their expressions were blank. Hollow.
Their eyes were empty. Their faces the color of ash.
But the instant they saw the men sprawled on the Cafeteria floor, something snapped. Their faces twisted into something feral, and they threw themselves at the bodies, biting down with bared teeth.
"Ahhh-"
"Get off me-!"
Screams bounced off the Cafeteria walls. It took a while before the bitten men managed to tear free. Every one of them was bleeding. Some had chunks of flesh missing entirely.
Once the frenzy passed, the women collapsed to the ground and wailed.
"The apocalypse." Yang Bin shook his head. "If a woman doesn't have power, being pretty is just a death sentence."
"Mm." Chen Hao and Hu Wenliang both nodded. The women in front of them had good looks and figures. What a waste.
Clang-
Several Tang Sabers clattered to the floor in front of the crying women. Tang Weiwei's voice cut through the sobs like a blade.
"Crying won't fix anything. Pick up the weapons. Cut down every man who violated you."
"......"
The women flinched. They looked at Tang Weiwei, then down at the blades on the ground, frozen.
But soon, a few of them crawled to their feet. They picked up the Tang Sabers.
And they started hacking.
In that moment, fear was gone. Only hatred remained.
They would never forget what these men did to them.
The scars carved into their chests. The agony between their legs. Every second of every day, their bodies reminded them of the humiliation.
Blood sprayed. Screams filled the air.
Within minutes, several men had been reduced to unrecognizable heaps of torn flesh, silent at last. The women were drenched head to toe in crimson-and still they didn't stop. Still hacking. Still swinging.
Everyone else scrambled backward, terrified of getting caught in the radius.
Women pushed past the breaking point are a terrifying thing. Before long, the bodies were barely identifiable as human-closer to ground meat. Only then did the women finally stop. The madness drained from their faces. They looked down at what they'd done.
And vomited.
Most of the Cafeteria joined them. The scene had crossed far beyond what ordinary people could stomach.
"Don't kill me-I was wrong-I'll never do it again-"
The remaining men-the ones who'd been acting fearless just moments ago-finally broke.
Dying was one thing. Being hacked into paste was another.
They dropped to their knees, slamming their foreheads against the floor, begging, repenting.
A few other women picked up the Tang Sabers but couldn't bring themselves to swing.
Tang Weiwei shook her head, then turned to the women who had. "From now on, you're with us."
"Okay... thank you. Thank you!"
These women had lived through the worst the apocalypse could offer. They understood, more clearly than anyone, what it meant to have a strong team at your back.
The others looked at Tang Weiwei with desperate hope in their eyes-but she didn't spare them another glance. Instead, she turned toward Yang Bin, who'd been watching the whole thing from the side.
"What do you think we should do with the rest of them?"
Yang Bin hadn't expected her to ask his opinion. But knowing this woman's style, she was probably testing him.
"Kill them." He rolled his eyes. "What, you wanna keep them around for New Year's dinner?"
"Good."
Tang Weiwei nodded, then addressed her people. "Kill them all."
"On it."
Her team moved toward the remaining men without hesitation.
Screams rose. Pleas for mercy. Begging.
None of Tang Weiwei's people flinched.
The apocalypse had been going on too long for mercy. If they still had soft hands, they'd never have survived this long outside.
Killing people and killing zombies-same motion. The only difference was that people were easier to kill. But zombies weren't necessarily more terrifying than people.
Sometimes, people were far worse.
Before long, the screams faded to silence. Every last one of them paid for what they'd done.
Over a thousand survivors in the Cafeteria watched it happen. Some looked satisfied. Some looked terrified. Some felt nothing at all.
Once it was done, Tang Weiwei turned to Yang Bin again. "What now? Zombies are everywhere outside. We can't get out either."
"We checked the kitchen just now. There really isn't much food left. With over a thousand mouths in here, even rationing it down to thin porridge, we've got three days. Tops."
"If it were just us, though-could stretch it a few more days, couldn't we?" Yang Bin smiled.
"You-!?"
Every eye in the Cafeteria locked onto him.
"Relax. Just a joke." Yang Bin laughed. "Don't be so tense."
"Though honestly, this many people really does burn through food fast..."
"What the hell kind of thing is that to say!? What do you mean 'burn through food'!?"
"Yeah! You're no better than those guys-trying to hoard everything for yourself!"
The crowd around them erupted.
"Am I wrong, though?" Yang Bin's smile didn't waver. "This food buys you three extra days. That's it. What happens on day four?"
"If rescue doesn't come, you starve anyway. So why waste the supplies?"
"If just our group eats it, that's a month's worth, easy. Plenty of time to hold out until help arrives."
"How can you be so selfish!? Why should it all go to you!?"
"Yeah-why!?"
"Because our fists hit harder." Yang Bin's voice went cold. "You people-brave against the weak, silent against the strong. Where were you when those men were doing whatever they wanted? Not a peep. But now you're all jumping out of the woodwork. What's the matter? Think we're easier to push around than they were?"
"You-"
Mouths opened. Nothing came out. Faces flushed red with impotent anger.
The victims hadn't been them, so of course they'd stayed quiet. But the moment their own interests were on the line? Suddenly everyone had something to say.
