Chapter 2 - Rite Of Passage!

I jumped up on my feet and once again looked around my surroundings with widened eyes,

this…this… this looks like the human starting area…

As this thought finished

,

my pupils constricted as my eyes landed on a particular figure standing by the two-storey house,

that is the old man that gives the quests… and he has an exclamation marker above his head…

I involuntarily gulped down my saliva and my eyes widened even more as the realisation hit me,

I am in RE: EFO?

No! No! No!

I shut my eyes and shook my head, denying the thought as it was impossible for something like that to happen. I slowly breathed in through the nose and held it for a few seconds before breathing out of my mouth. I slowly opened my eyes, but the surroundings remained the same; the old man still had an exclamation marker above his head; he still stood by the two-storey house

I am really in RE: EFO?! How is that possible?! How did this happen?!... I remember playing the game and, I think I fell asleep… Did I somehow got transmigrated into the game?!

I hung my head down to process the reality but instead of that, I frowned as before me laid the feet of a young adult and not that of a middle-aged man. Without thinking I tried moving them and the feet in front of me moved in response.

Why are my feet so young?... Not only, I got transmigrated into RE: EFO but my age was regressed as well? No, it’s more likely that I got transmigrated into the character I created.

I raised my head, raised my right arm and clasped my fist tightly; the bones cracked and I let out a dry laugh.

This is not a dream. The sound of cracking bones and the pain of fingernails pressing against my skin is too real. This is real and that means that I am now Drak the human warlock of the world RE: Eternal Fate online and not Ni Ran of earth… I should do one more test to make sure,

I unclasped my fist and touched my temple with index and middle fingers. My skin tingled to the touch, I applied some force and slowly trailed the two fingers to the neck.

Not a single wrinkle or a pimple. I think my face is more handsome than what it used to be when I was in my twenties… This confirms it, my body didn’t regress, I am in the character that I randomised… If I knew I would be transmigrated into my character, I would have spent time creating it—I hope there isn’t anything strange about it.

I looked down at my body and saw the clothes that were on me. White linen pants that were to my heels and a white linen shirt that was to my elbows.

I am so fit and I have a six-pack?! My luck with randomising character’s appearance wasn’t bad!

I chuckled.

What’s that?

I spotted something at the corner of my eyes and turned my body but that something was still at the corner of my eyes even after turning my body.

What the?!

I then tried moving my eyes and I saw the thing that was at the corner of my eyes.

Is that UI? The health bar and mana bar. That’s it? Hmm… Health and mana bar used to be at the top-left side of the screen so maybe…

I moved my eyes to the right corner,

the minimap.

I then moved to lower-middle,

experience bar

and finally, I moved my eyes to the lower-right corner.

<Character, Inventory, Spellbook, Talents, Pets & Mounts, Quests, Achievements, Map, Kingdom>

Now only two elements are missing, the spell bar and the chat box. The spells were supposed to be atop of the experience bar but there isn't anything there. Now to check if there is the chat.

I moved my eyes to the lower-left but saw nothing. There wasn’t a trace of the chat box.

I moved my eyes back to their normal position and in front of me stood a brown boar piglet with no tusks. Above it there was a health bar and above that, its name.

<Boar Piglet, Level 1>

<HP: 50/50>

The first monster any player encounters and kills, the boar piglet… Killing it will start the life of Drak and end the life of Ni Ran. No… the life of Ni Ran is already over but I still need to kill it if I want to start the life of Drak. This is my rite of passage into this world.

I extended my right arm towards the piglet and opened my palm; then frowned,

how do I use a skill? There is no skill bar… maybe I need to just think of a skill name? It’s worth to give a try. Shadow Bolt!

My hand got enveloped in black glow and words from a language I couldn’t understand entered my head,

I should say them? Alright!

“L'togael bolt!” a black projectile flew out of my right hand’s palm.

Swoosh!

The black projectile flew through the air and hit the boar piglet at which I aimed my <Shadow Bolt> at. Damage floated up above its head, <-13> and the done damage was reflected on its health bar, <HP: 37/50>, its health was reduced to 37. It squealed in pain, locked its gaze on me and charged.

“L'togael bolt!” I spoke without saying the spell’s name and nothing happened.

What? It didn’t work?...Do I have to first think of a spell first? Alright, here goes! Shadow Bolt!

My hand got enveloped in black glow and familiar words appeared in my head, “L'togael bolt!” A black projectile flew out of my palm.

Swoosh!

The black projectile flew through the air and hit the same boar piglet at which I launched my second <Shadow Bolt> at. Damage floated up above its head,

<-12> as it squealed in pain. Its health was reduced to 25.

It worked… it seems the spell name is an activator which has to be followed up by an incantation.

The piglet crossed half the distance, but it still had some ground to cover before reaching me.

Shadow Bolt!

I thought, black glow enveloped my right hand and I spoke, “L'togael bolt!” A black projectile flew out of my palm.

Swoosh!

The black projectile flew through the air and hit the same boar piglet at which I launched my third <Shadow Bolt> at. Damage floated up above its head,

<-14> as it squealed in pain. Its health was reduced to 11.

The boar piglet reached me, but it didn’t stop, it seemed like it wanted to headbutt me. Seeing its intentions, I stepped to the right, sidestepping and managing to dodge the headbutt; I then extended my hand,

Shadow Bolt!

My right hand got enveloped in a black glow and I spoke, “L'togael bolt!” A black projectile flew out of my palm.

The black projectile hit the boar piglet that was in a punching distance of me. Damage floated up above its head, <-13>. It squealed louder than ever before and fell down on its right side, dead; a few notifications flashed before my eyes.

<Boar Piglet, Slain>

<+10 XP>

The boar piglet’s collapsed body got enveloped in a golden glow.

It’s lootable,

I touched its body with my right hand; a loot window appeared.

<1 Copper>

I tapped on the item, looting it and backed away.

Rite of passage complete.

I turned my head to the old man with a yellow exclamation mark above his head and walked up to him.
