Walking into the path that was opened when I ‘failed’ the test, I once again found myself inside a corridor; I walked down it. This corridor, like all the corridors I passed through before, had torches every 5-yards, and every time
I passed by these torches, they would light up.
After passing more than 1,500 torches, I saw the light in the distance.
I am almost outside,
I thought as I hastened my step.
I walked past a few hundred torches more, and I finally took a single step outside.
Taking this single step outside, I immediately squinted my eyes and furrowed my eyebrows as I was met with sudden sunlight. I instinctively raised my right arm, blocking the sun rays with the back of my hand.
That’s bright,
I thought; then I waited, letting my eyes get accustomed to the sunlight.
A few seconds passed and my eyes got fully accustomed to the sunlight, I fully opened them and lowered my arm to the side of my body. I turned my head, first to the left and then to the right, looking around my surroundings. I saw thick and thin
trees surrounding me; small birds flying around while chirping; squirrels sitting on the branches of the trees; grass covering every millimetre of the ground, in some places it was tall and in others short; bushes surrounding every tree and flowers surrounding every bush.
I am close to the place from where I entered this inheritance ground. Good, that exit didn’t lead me to anywhere too far away. As I still need to kill the wolf king and gain the old man’s trust. So he wouldn’t tell anyone that I am a warlock… Mhm… Initially, I had two ways of going at this. Killing the wolf king, or just leaving and changing my class into another. And I chose the later by going into the inheritance grounds, but I still planned to kill the wolf king after I got the Blade Master class. But now, I have the passive, <One Track Mind>, and I can’t change out of the Warlock class. I don’t have the choice that I originally had. I must kill the wolf king and gain the old man’s trust no matter what. Luckily for me, I can remove the level cap. Which was the entire reason, why I went to change my class in the first place; all without losing my soul or without subjugating myself to menial labour of summoning and killing higher leveled demons every few levels. All thanks to my passive, <Incorruptible Soul, mind and body>. Alright.
I thought.
I raised my right arm and extended it forward into the distance,
Contact greater demon!
I spoke in my head and
my hand got enveloped in a black glow
. Words that I needed to say floated up in my head and I opened my mouth,
“
Sejhmsh vglmhlg dlaej!”
A sudden cold wind blew, hitting the back of my neck, and my body shivered. The temperature dropped by a few degrees and in the clear blue sky, several grey clouds appeared, blocking the golden disk in the sky – the sun. “Warlock, do you want power?” the voice of a man suddenly sounded in my head.
I blinked my eyes and slightly tilted my head in confusion as I thought,
hmm… a normal voice? I expected something demonic sounding… Oh well.
“Yes, I do,” I answered.
“Very well, I will grant you power, but in exchange, you will give me your eternal allegiance. And as collateral, you will also present me your soul. Do you accept?” a voice sounded in my head.
My soul can’t be taken away from me, so yes,
I thought and said, “I do.”
“Magnificent! I will now teach you a spell. This spell will summon one of my demons into your world. Once you summon him, he will give you a soul vial. You will fill this soul vial with your soul—” I frowned; during which his voice continued sounding in my head, “And once it is filled and passed on to my demon, he will pass to you my blood essence.”
This won’t work, my soul can’t be separated from my body. Even if it was separable, I wouldn’t accept as I have no intention of being a slave to anyone.
I thought, during which his voice continued sounding in my head, “When you devour it, you will get the power you want. To perform this sp—”
“The deal is off,” I said, interrupting him in the middle of his sentence.
“Why?!” A confused shout of a man sounded in my head.
“The reason is not important, what’s important is that I am not doing it,” I said.
The voice of a man stayed silent for a few seconds before sounding in my head again, “If you change your mind, don’t hesitate to contact me again.” After the last word sounded in my head, the temperature rose back up, and the clouds that had appeared, just disappeared into thin air. It was as if they were never there.
It seems he is gone…
I thought; then I furrowed my eyebrows and continued my thoughts,
I am back to square one. I can’t change my class, but I can take two more thanks to the <
Unlimited Talent
> passive. But even if I take two more classes, and level them up to the maximum while ignoring the Warlock class. I will still have one class – a Warlock locked at <Level 10>… I won’t have that. This was my main class for f*ck sake! Summoning and killing demons every few levels it is!
I raised my right arm and extended it forward into the distance,
Summon lesser demon!
I spoke in my head and
my hand got enveloped in a black glow
. Words that I needed to say floated up in my head and I opened my mouth,
“
Ipaaej bliilg dlaej!”
A sudden cold wind blew, and it was more than a thousand times colder than before, and there was not one, but more than a few; my body shivered each time and I thought,
why is the wind much colder than when I contacted the greater demon?
The temperature dropped by more than ten degrees, my body shivered from cold once again, and I thought,
the temperature too?
The entire sky got shrouded by pitch black clouds, and I thought,
there were only a few grey clouds when I contacted a greater demon. Why is the sky pitch black now that I am summoning a lesser demon?
As my thought concluded, the thunder struck, not once, but four times. Once to the east, and I thought,
Thunder? What the?
Once to the west, and I thought,
again?
Once to the south, and I thought,
for the third time? How many times will it happen?
Once to the north, and I thought,
is this the last time?
In front of me, around 5-yards away from me, a girl of around 11 years old appeared on the ground, and she immediately caught my eye as I knew that she was a demon that I summoned. The girl had her eyes closed. Her face was round and cute. Her hair was black of mid-length which was made into
blunt bob with silky, straightened ease hairstyle
. Her figure was slim and she wore a black shirt and black pants. I also noticed that the moment she appeared, the temperature returned back to normal, the pitch black clouds disappeared from the sky and the sky was once again clear, devoid of even the slightest cloud.
<Fey, Level 1>
<HP: 50/50>
Fey is <Level 1>… I need a demon of an at least <Level 11>... and even if she was <Level 11>. I can’t kill a child… Demon or not…
I thought; then I sighed heavily and continued my thoughts,
but what do I do with her now that she is here?...
I walked up to her, squatted down and poked her cheek with my finger as I said, “Wake up!” Not getting a response, I continued doing it as I repeated the same words, over and over again.
After five more pokes, and five repeats of the two words ‘Wake up,’ Fey’s eyelids quivered and her eyes slowly opened. Her irises were black and her pupils were red. Her eyes moved, and our eyes met. Her pupils constricted and my eyes widened from surprise, as this was my first time seeing someone with black irises and red pupils.
Fey closed her eyes, a furious expression appeared on her face, but a short moment later it was replaced by a wide smile instead, she opened her eyes, stood up from the ground, dusted off her clothes and looked down at me with an arrogant expression on her face, “I am an Archdemon named Fey. Fey of the Qarol family. Be grateful lowly warlock, I allowed you to summon me into this measly world. Let’s make a contract and I will give you more power than any greater demon could give you!”
I widened my eyes in surprise.
