Chapter 18 - Removing Level Cap!

“What did you just say?” I mumbled with surprise in my voice after widening my eyes.

Fey furrowed her eyebrows, “Don’t make me repeat myself, warlock

. I am an Archdemon named Fey. Fey of the Qarol family. We will now make a contract, and I will give you more power than any greater demon could possibly give you!”

I widened my eyes from surprise even more than they already were, and thought,

this girl really is an Archdemon? Wasn’t that spell supposed to summon a lesser demon? But the wind, the temperature, the pitch black clouds and the lightning… It must be true.

After this thought went through my head, I slowly rose up from the crouching down position; Fey’s eyes followed me as I did.

Completely standing up from the crouching down position, I looked down at Fey, and my face returned to normal as I thought,

I can’t ask for a better situation. I have to forge a contract with her no matter what. If I do, I won’t have to summon and kill higher levelled demons every few levels.

“Very well, I will make a contract with you,” I said.

Fey slightly nodded her head and a faint smile appeared on her childish face. She extended her right arm, and opened her palm, facing it towards the sky. It got enveloped in a black glow, and a sheet of paper appeared out of thin air, floating above her palm and rotating from left to right.

I blinked my eyes,

a sheet of paper? And it appears to be blank,

I thought.

“Let’s begin the forging of the contract, warlock,” Fey said.

That greater demon I contacted wanted my soul as a collateral, and he wanted me to fill it into something called the soul vial. She might ask me for the same. I can’t let that hap—,

I thought, but before my thought could continue any further, Fey’s voice sounded.

“First are your duties, warlock. The first one, you will protect me from anyone and anything that will attempt or do harm to me. If necessary, you will sacrifice your life for mine,” Fey said and the words she spoke appeared on the sheet of paper in red.

I blinked my eyes, tilted my head in confusion and thought as I started staring at Fey,

she won’t ask for me to fill my soul into a soul vial?

“Your second duty, you won’t do me any harm,” Fey said and all her words appeared on the sheet of paper in red below the words that were already written.

She really isn’t asking for my soul as collateral?

I thought as I continued staring at her.

“Next is contract completion. This contract will be completed when one of the two happens. One, I am of adult age – 21 years old. Two, you die. And the last part of the contract, contract breach. If you breach the contract by breaking either one of your two duties, you will fulfil this command – you will take your life, and once you arrive in front of King Yama, you will reject reincarnation. That is all,” Fey said and words appeared on the sheet of paper.

I tilted my head in confusion and mumbled without thinking, “What about my soul?” After the words left my mouth, I cursed inwardly and thought,

damn it! Maybe she had forgotten, but now I reminded her…

“What about it?” Fey said as she slightly tilted her head.

I widened my eyes in surprise and thought,

what?

“You won’t take my soul as collateral?” I said, confused and surprised.

Fey harrumphed coldly, “Don’t compare me – an Archdemon, to those measly low levelled demons. They can only take your soul as they have no ways to keep those that they forge agreements with in-line. Now touch the contract and speak out, ‘I accept.’ Once you do this, the contract will be established.”

I nodded my head and thought,

to be safe, I should assume that if I accept and then break the contract, I will complete the order that she stated. Even if I have the passive <Incorruptible Soul, mind and body>. Mhm… From this contract, I will just become a bodyguard for Fey… Well that’s fine. It’s a small price to pay for not doing that menial chore every few levels.

I nodded my head again, “Alright.”

“Touch the contract and say, ‘I accept,’,” Fey repeated the words she had already said.

I took a few steps forward, walking up to Fey’s extended arm and the sheet of paper floating above it. I raised my right arm and extended it towards the contract floating above her right arm’s palm; once my fingers touched it, I said, “I accept,”; I lowered my arm.

The contract burnt up in black flames and Fey raised the corners of her lips, smiling. She retracted her right arm, a black glow enveloped her right hand, and in it, a golden goblet appeared. She bit into her left arm’s wrist, and moved the goblet below it, letting the blood flow into it.

My pupils constricted and I frowned,

Archdemon or not. It's disturbing to let a child injure herself like that…

Once the goblet was filled with blood, Fey’s wrist healed itself and she extended the goblet filled with blood towards me, “Drink it.”

I nodded my head, raised my right arm and extended it towards the goblet, taking it into my right hand and gulping it down, without even looking at it; notifications started flashing in front of me.
