Chapter 44 - The Old Dragon’s Maw

The next morning, Gawin headed straight to the Chairman's office. Li Ming lowered his tea cup slowly, the faint aroma of Oolong drifting lazily through the air. As the door opened, the Thai director stepped inside, a folder in hand.

"Good morning, Gawin. What brings you here so early?" Li Ming greeted him with a subtle smile.

Gawin bowed politely before placing the file on the desk. "Chairman, I would like your opinion on the KCC structural framework before the merger proceeds."

Li Ming picked up the document and read it thoroughly before looking up. "You want the energy infrastructure to serve as a base for the Hydrogen Project?"

"Yes, sir. Our Due Diligence team discovered that KCC’s land and energy structures are currently valued only as depreciated assets. I believe retaining these as a foundation for our project would be far more beneficial."

Li Ming arched an eyebrow. "But our primary production base is scheduled to move to the Ansong District. Why fixate on KCC?"

"Because KCC is the epicenter of the central industrial zone, adjacent to the main port. I want to establish this area as a Pilot Center before full-scale implementation in Ansong," Gawin explained. Li Ming nodded, listening intently.

"If we don't secure these assets before the merger, legal hurdles could delay us for years. Delays mean a doubling of costs and worse, it gives our competitors a chance to beat us to the finish line. That would be detrimental to CK Group," Gawin argued, citing perfectly logical risks that immediately resonated with Li Ming.

"However, stripping core assets could lower the merger's valuation. The board might use that as an excuse to challenge my report," the Chairman countered. Gawin opened his tablet, projecting the data.

"Building a new power system from scratch would cost $50 million and take nearly a year for permits alone. By utilizing KCC’s existing infrastructure, we save $45 million and countless months," Gawin stated.

Li Ming studied the data, then locked eyes with the CEO. "How long until completion?"

"With the KCC framework, I guarantee completion by the end of this year... or mid-next year at the very latest," Gawin answered with unwavering confidence.

"Once this project is live, we can scale it across all CK Group industries. Our energy costs will be lower than any competitor, generating massive profits," Gawin added, driving the point home.

Li Ming nodded slowly, his smile widening. "Hmph. In that case, I certainly can't let the KCC assets slip away." The Chairman straightened up. "I will expedite the review of your proposal immediately."

"Thank you, Chairman," Gawin bowed and exited the room.

However... the moment the door clicked shut, the gentle smile vanished from Li Ming’s face, replaced by a cold, inscrutable gaze. He picked up the phone and dialed a direct line.

"Regarding the proposal you gave me the other day... I've made my decision," Li Ming said, his eyes fixed on the door. "Let’s proceed with your plan. It’s time to exterminate these parasites once and for all."

The Chairman flashed a predatory grin. Now that the prey was in his grasp, it was time to show them who truly owned this game.
