"They are not doing themselves any favor at the moment Sam stated, not looking up from the cooking apples, sausage, and breakfast strata. Ignoring the piercing gazes of the police, whatever technical or magical or magic tech device they were using to watch him was very much getting on his nerves; it felt strange. His ghost core was particularly unhappy, 'I haven't felt like this before.' What a new, annoying experience. Letting out a slow breath, he kept the core power contained, finishing his food.
washing his dishes Sam almost snapped the plate feeing the gaze increase, gripping the edge of the sink he took slowly breath forcing his hair back to it's chosen color. "nope!" standing up he walked out of the house, with a bucket of water ballons." i don't what the fuck your using," setting the bkect down was water ballon in hand. "but it's not agreeing with my power!"
He launched the balloon at high speed towards one of the cops. They shouted, so he knew it struck. "Pick another observation method." he launched one at the cop east of him. "I know you have the funding for it! He aimed more to the right! Before the fourth balloon was sent out, the cop tried to rush at him. Sam cackled as he struck the dead on the face. He smelled the weapon first, which was a little strange even for him. Usually he heard or saw it. But he doughed the wires all the same.
"Ugh!" he gagged as the full scent hit him. "Gross, what bog witch did this come from?" Sam knew two bog witches; one sicked an alagaotr on him. The other scolded her daughter. He still had the tooth he knocked out.
The wires came at him again; his knowledge of bog-related magic was iffy. This could either be some kind of curse or blessing on the wires. 'Rather not touch them either way.' Landing on the tree in the neighbor's yard, he was out of it a moment later, preventing the tree from being damaged. 'Can't do that again?' Landing on the road, he launched the water balloon at his attacker.
"AHG!" the man sputtered," is this a joke?" Sam snickered, "of course it is?" he wondered what gave them any other idea." youre observation method is annoying me." walking back to his bueket." pick something less aggravating, or i won't coparte so much." then with a smile he picked up the bucket and headed towards the foot traffic where he threw more water ballons at people and got into a few street brawls. Everyone else laughed. Why not? It was harmless fun. Not to mention that it was getting pretty warm.
When he was done with the water balloons, he returned home, doing some leftover homework and schoolwork he'd put off a bit too long. Thankfully, the police heeded his warning and switched to something that didn't aggravate his ghost core. 'I'll ask later what they were using?'
Done with his schoolwork, he turned his focus to a mix of legal documents and witchbooks. The documents were practical because of the trouble he caused and updating some forms he had. "Is my long life worth all this paperwork?" he thought as he signed another document about life insurance. Oh, it wasn't about his life but the life of the people he cared about. he just brought them high-grade worldwide coverage.
'I don't know what the beast of lust is planning, but I can make sure they get good medical care around the world.' Though the entire world had basic free medical care, he expected they would need more than basic medical attention. He himself would be fine, unless someone used regeneration-countering techniques on him.
"well I've got them covered for the next for hundreds years." streachingout he looked to the next peaice of paper." the reports of his propties. rempairs and matinece attempt to buy the propetirty, reuslst of the renting he was doing. "well everything seems to be in order." thank the gods and other things he wasn't in the mood to travel at the moment, 'got to focus on my school work reconetning with his brother.' which reminded him, "i got to get him back...I'm gonna hire a box full of spiders!" he was going to pay for sending that bath picture.
It took little time to set the spider order ready; he even paid extra for more insects and a few rats. With that done, he picked up a new sci-fi romance novel. "Dancer to warrior? Can't say I've seen that a lot." Turning the page, the book started playing a soft melody. One of the things that caught his interest was the music played along with the scenes.
It wasn't the first book he read that did this, but it was one of the better ones. Sam actually wasn't a fan of these book types, because some just didn't get it right. On the other side, they got it so well that Sam found himself incredibly immersed in the books. Enough that he finally lost time; it wasn't the worst way to lose time. But a part of Sam just couldn't be okay with that.
'Now that I've recovered more of my memory, is that because of my immortality, because of how much time I've already lost?' Setting the book on his chest, he thought about it for a long moment. "It feels like that is the reason?" But also, it felt there was something else; was it a forgotten thing or something he was avoiding?
Like avoiding the status of the first person he cared for, the person he sent flowers to for a long time. "When did I start doing that?" The first time it was under a full moon; he threatened a falcon to deliver the flower. With some really strange directions cause he didn't know the mailing address. Hell, he hadn't even known if they had still been there.
"Now that I think about it, did the falcon actually deliver the flower, or did they just fake me out?" That thought lingered for a moment before Sam came to a decision. If that bird faked him out, he was hunting down its soul. "Either way, he might be gone. How sad it is that, after all that work and time. He's gone. Unless," there was one hope. But he didn't want to give himself hope; the chance was smaller, a miracle of miracles.
"But it's a nice thought, that after four hundred years you're still around. I thought about it once in a while, but what kind of person did you grow into? Are you kind? Are you strong? Are you gentle? I hope so. Would we get along?" Closing his eyes, Sam rolled off the couch. "Maybe I'll work up the courage to go and see for myself."
Jumping to his feet, "Let's go get some ice cream." He was going to eat his worries away."
'My lord, that is not a good coping mechanism!' Sam laughed as he raced out of the house, where they quickly found an ice cream bar, then a cookie bar, a smoothie bar. his tatto growing in size over the next few hours to te point it covered the most of his right side. "uggh," groaning on the bench of a bus stopp." i've forgtton the tatto has a limits how much it can take in a certain time frame, from how much he stressed in the last few hours he was thinking a day or two for it to settle.
Burping, he sat up. Giving a salute to the cop across the street who was watching him. Letting his stomach settle more before he summoned his race car. From there, he drove around, still not a good coping mechanism, he thought, shifting his car into cruise as he turned onto one of the island beaches.
From the trunk, he pulled a pair of swim trunks. Why did he have a pair of swim trunks in the car that spent most of its time in hell? The same reason he had a change of clothes, a first aid kit, several rounds of ammo, and several billion in cash. Just in case shit happened to and because of him.
Changing into the swim trunks he took off, running into the water, "cold!" jumping right back off, he laughed. Before rushing back into the water, this time ready for the cold.
He didn't go out far, before floating in the wake, letting the waves rock him back and forth. Watching as the sun set, the stars appearing across the sky. "At least, after all these years, the stars are the same." Reaching up, he dragged out a constellation.
"And one day I'll leave to be among them, wonder what they will be like?" Tracing another constellation, he asked the helper. There actually is a decent-sized trade planet near your star system; it mostly trades in foodstuffs and minor mining resources that have been drying up recently.
"Oh," tilting his head, "I completely forgot about the Mimic slimes. I hope they're not in too much trouble. " Half a country away they slimes continued their war against a gang of fools. "I'll have to call someone about that."
"So this trading post, tell me about it and anything else in the area." The helper started by giving specifics about the location and the products the trading post offered. Things he could order through the lord of Greed's auction site.
"They are also one of the places contracted to the lord of gluttony," Sam asked why they were contracted. 'She likes to eat. They serve all kinds of foods from dozens of cultures, even mixing the dishes. the%^&(#$.' That was not language Sam spoke. It is incredibly delicious, one of the best dishes across races that can fully taste all its flavors, high rank even among those who can't.'
"What kind of flavors are out there?" the helper responded by explaining the human range had a decent-sized range of taste, but there were things they couldn't taste without some evolution or modifications; there are also some other things you shouldn't eat.'
"I guess, where should the lord of lust go then?" There were prostitutes in space, unless they had a different system than on Earth. Even the profession wasn't that respected in some groups, like some religious groups. But Sam treated those kinds of groups the same way he treated people who didn't trust modern medicine and/or acted like they knew better than trained professionals.
utter fools!
'Oh, there are plenty of institutions of the sensual pleasures. As the lord of lust, you will get involved in them,' Sam nodded, watching the stars reveal themselves. "I don't think about it much, but sometimes I'm going to leave this planet. I'm both excited and nervous. So much to see and learn, but at the same time."
"I feel kind of small, kind of powerless. How many decades has it been since I felt like this?" Kicking his legs, he splashed the water a little as he bobbed with the waves. The silence stretched as he tried to call upon memories that were still full of holes, 'the only one I can blame is my past self; you couldn't bear the full weight of the ir despair that life has gifted me.'
He wasn't sure if he could bear it now, even though, in reality, he was doing better than he was in the past. Better mental and physical health, but what was that again for four centuries of chaotic life? Very brief moments of calm, all started from a horrible point, 'a lot actually.' Sam realized, "How strange?" The recent memory of Cora and Natale hugging just cause they wanted to. Watching movies with Danile. Cooking with Tyrone at his side, like stars that wouldn't go out against the numerous unhappy memories he was recovering. For the thousands of nights he spent cold and alone.
He had a strong memory of being warm and loved. It didn't erase the cold and loneliness, but it certainly helped. 'It will continuecontinue to help, over the rest of my long life,' he continued to float in the water for a long while until he swam to the shore, using a heat rune to dry himself off. "That was nice, I feel like I made some progress."
Getting in his car, he drove home, letting the car fade back into the underworld. Walking into the house, he peeked up at the scent of freshly baked bread. "Ohh, what's for dinner?" he knew this kind of savory bread, but the strifry was interesting.
"Some bread and stir-fry, trying to use some of the vegetables in the fridge." Sam nodded as he helped set the table. "Well, it smells great," and probably a good thing after all he'd eaten. 'I think enough time has passed. I don't feel full, so I guess the tattoo has absorbed enough. Looking under his shirt, he could see the impressive size of it. 'Should I do something about the design though?' Due to its current size, its current design wasn't all that much.
"It changes it though," he couldn't remember fucking how! "What design could I use though? animal? plant?" Thinking it over, he remembered the many images he'd used over the years. "Man, I've used so many." Eating, he let a few ideas spin around his head. During his bath, he switched through a few, trying to imagine what they looked like.
The only thing he was certain of was that he wanted an object this time. "what kind?" he raised a hand above the after watching the enchanted ink, "ink made from my blood. with the extract of darnkess. a spirit receptive flower so it would respond to my spitr-" he banged his head, agsint the rim of the bath. "theres no special medthoud. as long as my spirit wills. It shall change." Smiling, he watched the enchanted black ink shift and change forms. "Ooh?" A sword surrounded by flowers, in the shape of ghosts, devils, and witches. "Nice, but..." he shifted the image so the sword was on the side of his arm, while the ribbon stretched across his shoulders before coiling down the other hand.
Across the ribbon, the flowers bloomed, taking up most of the free skin. Even covered the upper half of his back and down his pecks. "That's good... I almost forgot." he was the lord of lust; he should start considering that to his style.
Thinking a while, mostly to look it up. He added white tuberose to the bundles of flowers, burning a bit of the stored power. "There, that's good." he looked over the massive tattoo. " Even setting it up so when he used the stored energy for regeneration it would wilt the flowers first.
Uses other than style zero, but man, would it look pretty cool. That reminds me, isn't that how I first used this regeneration technique? Eating the life of surrounding vegetation, that's why they called me a plague!" With another returned memory, he settled in for the night.
