Despite his warm breath I shivered and took a step away from him. My head is spinning I am not sure what to think. I tried and remembered what exactly it was I had wished for. I had always felt like the ugly duckling in school. Even with my parents I always felt they loved my brother more then me. The shadows is where I felt at home the darkness was my only friend.
I walk to my living room and sit on my couch as I try and remember the things that I have blocked out for so many years. As I sit there I start thinking back to everything that happened. I put my head in my hands and close my eyes reaching into the depths of my mind to reach the memories I had tried so hard to lock away.
Memory:
Its the first day of 4
th
grade at a new school in our new town. Dad had to move again for work I hate always having to move. My younger brother was just starting 3
rd
grade and I hated his popularity already. First day of school and he already was one of the most popular 8 year old I had ever seen. There was a circle of kids around him greeting him and asking which teacher he got. All the girls where asking if they could sit by him.
I how ever did not have anyone coming over to meet me or ask to sit by me. I felt so ugly and out of place. I know it was wrong to be jealous of me little brother but I was. No sooner had I stepped onto the school grounds I was being bullied. Becca and her friends where the worst of it. I tended to keep to myself plus I was new so I had no idea what I had ever done to her. She was ruthless when it came to picking on me.
If it wasn’t her making comments on how disgusting I looked is was how I dressed. I had raven black hair to just past my shoulders, fair skin as I did not go out in the sun much. The strangest thing I think had to be my eyes as they are an odd shade of green. They are a pale shade almost like a milky jade. I had always dressed in cloths I had hoped would not get me noticed. However when it came to Becca nothing I did could get me off her radar.
When we entered the classroom she had everyone staring at me. My face turned red as I never really liked the attention. I had tried very hard to get to a desk in the back corner. However Becca and her friends had other plans they cornered me. I tried to keep my head down but one of Becca’s friends grabbed my chin and forced me to look her in the eyes. I tried not to look in her eyes but it just could not be helped at all. I could see all the rage and hatred she felt towards me in her eyes.
“OMG look at her freakish eyes!” Becca had shouted to get everyone’s attention in class before the teacher walked in.
“They are so ugly and creepy” her friend holding my chin said in agreement.
“She isn’t human, she must be a monster” Another girl said from the right side of the circle of kids.
“Let me see.” A boy from the back of the crowed that had gathered said. “I think they look cool and are really pretty” he said as he looked me in the eyes. He has a smirk on his face.
The bell rang and it was my saving grace as the crowed all ran to seats. I was finally free to get to the desk in the back corner. My day only got worse from there we had to go to music class. When we lined up in on the risers for singing I was not able to hide in the back because I was short. I was in the front row and I hated it because I felt like all eyes where on me. I was not 100% wrong in that feeling because once we started singing everyone was silent. I loved listening to music and singing when alone that I had not even realized everyone had stopped but me.
When I stopped and looked around I blushed. The music teacher was standing there with her mouth wide open. I wished I could just disappear into the shadows. I heard whispers starting. Things like the freak can sing and she has to be a monster with a voice like that such a siren. Was just some of the things I had heard them saying. The teacher got the class back on track and after class she asked me to stay and talk.
“I know of a special class for singers with voices like yours I think you should join” she said with a big smile on her face and hope in her voice.
“I am not big on being the center of attention and would really rather not” I said looking down at the ground.
“Alright let me know if you change your mind. You have an amazing talent you could one day be a great performer.” She said as she walked me back to my class.
I just stayed silent and looked at the ground as I walked. This was not going to be a good thing at all. It would be so much worse if I joined the class it would just be more for other to bully me about. I just walked into the classroom and straight to my desk as fast and quiet as I possible could. After sitting in my desk I noticed the boy from before looking at me. He liked my eyes but I didn’t trust what he said the smirk on his face when he had said it seemed off.
The rest of my first day and the rest of the school year went in much the same way. I would catch the boy who always complemented me looking at me. He was a very cute boy but something just seemed off about him. Becca and her friends would find something new every day to point out about how wrong, ugly, and freakish I was. You would think she would have run out of things to point out but it seemed to never end. Things had been no better at home either.
We just found out that this was going to be our last move. My dads job had been made permanent so that meant I would have to put up with Becca for a very long time. I tried talking to my mom about the things Becca was doing and she only said I was over reacting and it would blow over. I felt so alone and unloved that when my birthday came around that summer I made the wish.
The wish that had changed every thing was apparently more then just a wish but a summoning. I had some how summoned the demons and turned my self into a true monster.
“I wish to have the power to strike down my enemy and to never be alone again.” I said in my mind when I blew out my candles. Just as the last flame went out is when the voices in my head started to chant kill…kill...kill...kill them…kill them all.
