We are leaving the city limits of Draka. This chapter explores the concept of the "Wasteland"—not just as a physical place, but as a mental state. Voi doesn’t see tragedy in the ruins; he sees a "baseline."
I wanted to highlight the difference between Voi and a traditional "hero." He didn't spare the woman because of kindness. He spared her because she was afraid, and to him, fear is a negotiation with life he no longer participates in.
