Led by Chen Yuanyuan and the two team members, Liu Yang and his group soon arrived at Commander Zhang's office in the Flying Eagle Organization.
Commander Zhang was currently processing documents at his desk. When he saw Chen Yuanyuan walk in with a handsome, resolute-looking man with a steady stride, his eyes instantly lit up. His wrinkled face seemed to radiate with brilliance in that very moment!
Dressed in black and strikingly handsome, he radiated an overwhelming aura of strength. This person absolutely had to be Liu Yang, the number one on the Heaven Ranking!
Excellent!
Truly excellent!
That girl Yuanyuan was truly capable!
It had only been a day, and she had already brought Liu Yang back!
Chen Yuanyuan turned to Commander Zhang. "Commander, I'm back. This is Liu Yang, rank one on the Heaven Ranking."
Liu Yang didn't speak, simply nodding at Commander Zhang.
Commander Zhang excitedly shot up from his seat, rushing over with a thrilled expression. Reaching Liu Yang, he immediately grabbed his hand and grasped it tightly.
"Good! Excellent! Truly, a hero from the younger generation! To think my young friend Liu Yang is so youthful, yet already first on the Heaven Ranking! Not only are you dashing, but your imposing presence perfectly displays the majestic demeanor of our Divine Dragon Empire's powerhouse!
That Hino Yamada from the Little Sun Empire had barely had a few days to swagger about before you put him in his place. So satisfying! Absolutely thrilling!
Before, I kept wondering just who the number one on the Heaven Ranking could be, and exactly how strong they'd have to be to claim that spot. But after laying eyes on you, I knew the top rank could belong to no one else!
Hahaha!
Young friend Liu Yang, have you come to join our Flying Eagle Organization?"
Liu Yang calmly withdrew his hand from Commander Zhang's enthusiastic grip and said, "Commander Zhang, don't misunderstand. I'm not here to join you, but rather to resolve a few matters."
"Oh?" The excited gleam on Commander Zhang's face instantly dimmed before he asked,
"Young friend Liu Yang, what matters have you come to resolve? Just say the word, and I'll definitely do everything in my power to help!"
Liu Yang's tone turned serious, his voice somewhat cold and leaving no room for doubt as he spoke.
"I need to resolve two things. First, the area around Jiangcheng is my territory. From now on, your Flying Eagle Organization is not to send anyone to harass me or my base.
Second, I was the one who beat up Yang Gaofeng. I heard he wants to take revenge against me and my base? Today, I'm here to settle that matter once and for all!"
Commander Zhang pondered for a moment before saying, "Young friend Liu Yang, right now our Divine Dragon Empire has already been infiltrated by many foreign ability users. We've currently discovered operatives from the Little Sun Empire, the White Eagle Empire, and the Savage Bear Empire.
And according to the information we extracted from them, they all came specifically for you, intending to eliminate you. No matter how strong you are on your own, you can't compete against the ability users of three major nations. For your own safety, I recommend you join our Flying Eagle Organization. We will protect you with everything we have!"
"As for the Yang family, I will handle it. I am on friendly terms with their patriarch. As long as you join the Flying Eagle Organization, I'll provide Yang Gaofeng with some compensation and put the matter to rest."
Liu Yang waved a hand dismissively. "You still don't understand what I mean. I am going to resolve this matter personally. I don't need your help.
As for those invaders from other countries, it doesn't matter. You can even give them my coordinates. If they come one by one, I'll kill them one by one. If they come in a group, I'll slaughter the whole group!
As for your Flying Eagle Organization... I observed your members on my way in. To be honest, they're weak. I'd even go so far as to say not a single one of them can put up a fight."
Hearing Liu Yang's words, Commander Zhang drew in a sharp breath.
What an arrogant young man!
Still, as the number one on the Heaven Ranking, he certainly had the strength to back up his arrogance. Besides, what was a young man without a bit of youthful vigor?!
However, vigor was one thing—being overly confident in one's own strength was not necessarily a good thing.
After all, it was still just the early stage of the apocalypse. The highest-tier ability user they had discovered so far was only Level 3.
Liu Yang might be number one on the Heaven Ranking with extraordinary talent.
But before fully developing his strength, he still couldn't afford to be so dismissive of everyone else.
Such arrogance could very easily provoke unimaginable enemies. Thus, Commander Zhang decided to give Liu Yang a small taste of an official organization's might, intending to take the young man down a peg.
He needed him to know that while he was indeed first on the Heaven Ranking, the strength gap between him and the others wasn't actually that vast. If he ran into a true martial artist, he might even get completely trashed!
Commander Zhang looked at Liu Yang and said, "It seems my young friend is very confident?"
Liu Yang smiled. "I can't help it. When you have this much strength, you have no choice but to be confident."
Commander Zhang also laughed. "Good! Very good! Since you're so confident, I'll have the ability users of our Flying Eagle Organization spar with you. Of course, you are first on the Heaven Ranking. In a one-on-one duel, likely no one here can beat you.
And you seem to believe you're invincible, thinking that even if foreign ability users unite, they still wouldn't be your match.
The ability users in our Flying Eagle Organization all execute missions in five-person squads. So, five against one—you wouldn't have any objections to that, would you? After all, if you don't join an organization, you are destined to be outnumbered in the future anyway."
"Of course I have no objections," Liu Yang said.
Commander Zhang's eyes flashed as he replied, "Excellent! Since this is a spar, adding a small wager shouldn't be a problem either, right?"
"No problem," Liu Yang said.
Commander Zhang's smile deepened. "Then I'll set the stakes. If our five-person squad wins, you must join our Flying Eagle Organization. If you win, name your prize."
Seeing the smug smile on the commander's face, Liu Yang simply brushed it off and said,
"It's simple. Since I have to join you if I lose, then if you lose, the people I defeat must join my ability user base. That's fair, right?"
Commander Zhang was instantly delighted and hurriedly said, "Fair! Extremely fair! Then it's settled! I'll assemble my subordinates right now to prepare for the spar! Yuanyuan, take my young friend Liu Yang to the reception room next door to rest for a bit."
He looked practically frantic in his rush, seemingly terrified that Liu Yang might back out.
"Yes, Commander!" Chen Yuanyuan nodded, then led Liu Yang toward the adjacent reception room.
Commander Zhang then turned to the other two ability users. "Assemble everyone immediately! Tell them to prepare for a spar with the rank one of the Heaven Ranking! Have them give it a hundred and twenty percent—they have to win! Whichever squad wins will be heavily rewarded!"
"Yes, Commander!" The two male ability users promptly took their leave.
Now that he was alone, Commander Zhang could no longer hold it in. His old, wrinkled face scrunched up into a wide grin resembling a blooming chrysanthemum.
"Hahaha! Liu Yang might be strong as the number one on the Heaven Ranking, but he's ultimately still too young! Too young and competitive, actually agreeing to my stakes that easily! Just watch me lock him firmly into the Flying Eagle Organization this time!"
As Commander Zhang saw it, even though Liu Yang topped the Heaven Ranking, he was still just a young man. Furthermore, he hadn't been an ability user for long and had yet to fully develop. No matter how strong his ability was, there was no way he was utterly invincible.
After all, the Flying Eagle Organization had several Heaven Ranking Squads!
These squads consisted of five members, all of whom were Heaven Ranking ability users. One top-tier squad even consisted entirely of experts ranked within the top 50 of the Heaven Ranking!
The abilities of these squad members perfectly complemented one another. Their combined strength was absolutely not as simple as 1+1+1+1+1=5!
In his eyes, Liu Yang had completely fallen into his trap!
