At this moment.
Commander Zhang also began speaking to everyone: "The handsome young man standing next to me is Liu Yang, number one on the Heaven Ranking! The reason I called you back today is for you to compete with Liu Yang, and you'll be doing so in squad units, while he alone will face your entire squad!"
"Before the sparring, I need to explain to you that as long as you defeat Liu Yang, Liu Yang will stay and join our Flying Eagle Organization!
And if any squad loses, the members of that squad will have to go with Liu Yang, join his base, and work for him!
If any squad defeats Liu Yang, I'll record a special merit for every member of that squad! All members will get a promotion of one rank!
If you lose, then you can only leave the Flying Eagle Organization, so this sparring is voluntary, I'm not forcing you, anyone willing should step forward!"
As soon as they heard these words, hesitation appeared on everyone's faces.
If defeated, you have to leave the Flying Eagle Organization and join Liu Yang's base?
The Flying Eagle Organization is the official ability user organization of the Divine Dragon Empire. Staying in this organization could be said to offer boundless prospects!
Originally, they were thinking about sparring with Liu Yang; even if they lost, it wouldn't really matter. But now, since losing meant having to leave Falcon, they needed to carefully consider this.
They needed at least a fifty percent chance of winning before taking action. If it wasn't even fifty percent, then this bet was unfair from the start. What was the point of sparring then?
Even Heaven Ranking experts like Xu Changqing and Yun Xianghan frowned.
This bet was a bit too big!
Once you lost, you had to go back to the base with Liu Yang. Didn't that basically mean becoming Liu Yang's subordinate?
Which of these Heaven Ranking ability users wasn't proud and arrogant? How could they possibly become another ability user's subordinate?
Joining an official organization meant working for the authorities, which was still acceptable.
Joining an ordinary base meant working for an individual.
With their strength as Heaven Ranking ability users, if they really wanted to leave the official organization, which one of them couldn't create their own base?
Wouldn't it be better to be their own boss?
Unexpectedly, right at that moment, the female ability user who had earlier mocked someone as a bean sprout said: "Captain, captain, let our squad challenge Liu Yang first! I can't wait any longer! Hurry up and sign us up!"
That captain gave her a sideways glance and said: "Challenge what? I'm only ranked around two-hundred-something on the Earth Ranking, and you guys are all five-hundred-something or eight-hundred-something. With our level of strength, we don't even have a ten percent chance of winning. What's there to challenge? Let's just watch the show instead! We can't win at all."
That female ability user argued: "Captain, what do you know? Why do we need to win? We can just directly lose to Liu Yang, right?
If we lose to Liu Yang, we get to go with him. As long as we go with him, we'll have proximity to power, and maybe I can become his woman!
Hurry up and challenge, hurry up and challenge, I can't wait any longer! I want to lose to him, I want to become his woman!"
Hearing her say that, the other ability users nearby looked at her with astonished expressions.
Good grief, this woman's mindset was certainly unique!
Everyone else was thinking about how to win, but she was thinking about how to lose!
Yet, after a moment's thought, her logic didn't seem entirely wrong.
If she could go with Liu Yang, was it possible to become his woman?
Someone so handsome and so strong was definitely a dream lover!
If she could become Liu Yang's woman, leaving the Flying Eagle Organization didn't seem like such a big deal after all.
Several women showed thoughtful expressions.
The male ability user who had been mocked as a bean sprout retorted:
"Take a look at yourself, you're built like a gas tank-do you really think he'd be interested in you? You still want to become the number one Heaven Ranking warrior's woman? That's hilarious! If you manage to get married in this lifetime, you should burn incense in thanks, let alone pick and choose!"
The woman shot back: "You don't understand a thing! I'm just a little bit heavy right now, but my foundation is great! Once I slim down, I'll definitely be a stunner! Don't worry, even if I never get married, I'd never look for a useless bean sprout like you!"
...
On the high platform, Commander Zhang saw that after so long no one had actively stepped forward to sign up, and his brow furrowed.
This was a sparring opportunity he had finally managed to trick Liu Yang into accepting-the sole chance to keep Liu Yang within the Flying Eagle Organization-and he had to seize it!
He refused to let this opportunity slip away simply because these people were afraid.
Raising his voice with added weight, he declared: "When did the ability users in our Flying Eagle Organization become so timid and afraid of losing? Those who fear defeat will never achieve victory!
This is a rare opportunity to spar with a top-tier expert. You probably only have this single chance in your entire lifetime!
Don't you want to see how your strength truly compares to the number one on the Heaven Ranking?
If you don't even possess the courage to face a strong opponent, how can you ever hope to become strong yourself?"
It had to be admitted that Commander Zhang's motivational skills were effective.
As soon as those words finished echoing, the expressions in the eyes of quite a few ability users began to change.
That was right.
If they didn't even have the courage to fight against a strong opponent, how could they ever become strong?
This might be their only, exclusive opportunity in this lifetime to cross swords with the number one on the Heaven Ranking!
If they let it slip by, the chance might never come again!
If a person assumed defeat before the fight even started, how could they ever hope to win?
Someone lacking self-confidence could never stand at the absolute peak!
Look at Liu Yang, the number one on the Heaven Ranking, standing proudly on the high platform.
Look at his gaze, looking down upon all living beings.
That was the gaze a true powerhouse should possess!
Those who cowered in hesitation would never grow strong.
"Our squad will be the first to spar with him!" At that moment, an ability user stepped forward, his eyes burning with determination and hard-to-conceal excitement.
He was the captain of the fifth squad. Although he was only ranked around two-hundred-something on the Earth Ranking, today he was determined to be the first to brave the waters!
"Good, very good!" Commander Zhang cast an approving look in his direction, then announced:
"To ensure fairness, your sparring will take place within a sealed training ground out of public view. This means fighting Liu Yang first carries no practical disadvantage compared to fighting him later!
There is no such thing as an advantage for later contenders. If subsequent teams wish to obtain intelligence regarding Liu Yang, they will have to purchase it from those who fought before them-and the price of that information is entirely up to you to negotiate.
In other words, the intelligence on Liu Yang's strength held by the first team to fight him will be exceptionally valuable!"
Hearing this, the captain of the fifth squad's eyes instantly lit up.
Splendid!
This was fair!
As expected of Commander Zhang!
Their squad would fight Liu Yang first, knowing nothing about his capabilities, but because others couldn't witness the match, no one else could glean intelligence from their performance!
If anyone wanted information on Liu Yang, they would have to buy it from his team!
First-hand intelligence could undoubtedly be sold for an exorbitant price!
Even if they lost, they could still turn a massive profit!
